Abstract

The Municipal Natural Protected Area “La Bufa” as a public heritage space contains physiognomic aspects that are framed by the ravine formed by its different elevations and the relief of the hills of El Grillo, El Padre and La Bufa, which together are part of the landscape richness of the Historic Center of Zacatecas. The context of its elevations has been the scene of multiple events and landmarks of the landscape and for the urban memory as a historical reference. The Latin American cities have faced different problems in the aspect of the conservation of the landscape heritage where the public space is immersed, that is why it is important to propose theoretical research that covers these issues. The hypothesis states that

this site can be conceptualized as a heritage public space, since it possesses characteristics that distinguish it from other cities. The objective of the article is to show the patrimonial value of this public space and of the historical events where this site has been the protagonist. The methodology consisted of a first phase of historical and conceptual analysis; and a second phase of results and conclusions on the relationship between the actors of this public space with its natural-heritage environment. One of the most representative results of the research is that this site has an identity and symbolic character, since significant historical events took place there, such as the Battle of Zacatecas in the revolutionary movement, besides being a public space par excellence for visitors and inhabitants of the city.
